Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) is intended to infuse dynamism into its policing to make the society free from all sorts of social crime including drug-addiction, terrorism and violence.
Integrated efforts by the police and the public in general, including the young generation, could help root out the abuse of drugs along with its illicit trafficking and trading.
RMP high officials came up with the observation while addressing the opening ceremony of a two-day long training workshop for the bit officers consisting of sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors of RMP at its training school here today.
RMP Commissioner Biplob Bijoy Talukder opened the workshop as chief guest detailing the working strategies of bit policing and roles and responsibilities of bit officers.
He called for reaching the police services to the doorsteps of the public in general through expediting the bit policing along with making it effective.
“We have to make the police services more dynamic and pro-people. We have to be habitual in friendly behavior with people,” he added.
Commissioner Biplob Talukder stressed the need for hearing the problems being faced by the people and taking initiative for resolving those quickly.
Besides, utmost emphasis should be given on generating mass-awareness against drug-addiction, terrorism, violence against women, eve-teasing and child marriage.
As a whole, the commissioner urged the bit officers to work with highest professionalism for upholding the law-order situation coupled with betterment of the people in the metropolis.
Additional Commissioner Muhammad Hemayetul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Meer Shafin Mahmud and Additional Deputy Commissioners Salma Sultana Alam and Matiar Rahman also spoke. (BSS)
