Govt working to ensure planned housing for all

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed today said the present government is working relentlessly to ensure ‘planned housing for all’ aiming to implement the “Vision-2041”.

The minister said this while responding to a star-marked query raised by treasury bench lawmaker Begum Nazma Akter of women seat-46 at the question-answer session which was tabled at the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

To this end, the minister said the Public Works Department has constructed some 6,528 flats under 19 projects during last 14 years for solving the accommodation problem of the government employees.

At present, the construction works of some 6,183 flats are underway for the government employees under eight projects. Even the construction works of 8,835 more flats under eight projects are waiting for approval.

In addition to this, Sharif said the government is also working to bring lower the income people under planned housing scheme at all the divisional cities, district towns and upazilas. (BSS)
