One gets life-term in drugs case in Chapainawabganj

A Chapainawabganj court on Wednesday
afternoon sentenced one person to life-term imprisonment in a drugs case.

The court also fined him of Taka 50,000, in default, he has to suffer two
years more in jail.

The convicted person was Raihan Ali alias Nayan, 26, son of Monirul Islam of
Chandpur village under Shahbajpur union of Shibganj upazila in the district.

Another two persons Shahriar Kamal and Monirul Islam were acquitted as the
charges against them were not proved.

Senior Session Judge of Chapainawabganj Md Adeeb Ali announced the verdict in
presence of the convict.

According to the prosecution story, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on a tip
off conducted a raid at Kagmari village under Shahbajpur union of Shibganj
upazila on December 15, 2020 and arrested Raihan with 1.48 kgs of heroin but
two others fled away.

Next day Nayeb Subedar Renu Mia of BGB filed a case with Shibganj thana.

Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Zinnatul Islam of
Shibganj thana submitted charge sheet accusing three persons to the court on
January 23, 2021.

After hearing the witnesses the court handed down the punishment, the court
