Bangladesh bowl first in 1st ODI against Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis opted to bat first after winning the toss in the first of three-match ODI series against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.

Sri Lanka won the recently concluded T20 series 2-1 to make a good start to the tour.

Veteran Mahmudullah returned to Bangladesh squad after missing the side’s last ODI series against New Zealand last year. Mahmudullah was Bangladesh’s top scorer in the World Cup.

This will be the first ODI between the two sides after the World Cup match in India, where Bangladesh won by three wickets after Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews was timed out.

The incident still loomed large in the series as the players from the two sides often engaged in verbal spat.
