Ethnic minority students get stipend, bicycles in Chapainawabganj

Educational stipend and bicycles were distributed among the students of ethnic minority groups here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, a simple function was arranged at the conference room of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mst. Tasmina Khatun in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chapainawabganj AKM Galiv Khan attended the function as the chief guest while Deputy Director of Local Government Debendranath Oraon attended as special guest.

Vice-chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad Tosikul Alam Babul, Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Amirul Islam and Assistant Upazila Secondary Education Officer Porimol Kumar Kundu spoke, among others, on the occasion.

The stipend was distributed under the Prime Minister’s “Development Aid for Special Areas Project” of first and scond instalments for the fiscal 2023-2024.

Seven students got bicycles, 50 students from class one to five got Taka 2,500 each, 20 students from class six to 10 got Taka 6,000 each and 10 students got Taka 9,500 each.

Besides, three homeless families got the keys of newly-constructed houses under the “Ashrayan Project”, run by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The DC said: “Our government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been working for the backward communities.”

He also asked them to avoid drugs and early marriage to go further and empower women. (BSS)
